Welcome to ISKCON Jaigaon! We’re a vibrant Krishna conscious family right here in Jaigaon, West Bengal, where the magic of bhakti flows every day through kirtans, feasts, and heartfelt gatherings. Inspired by the global ISKCON movement started by our beloved Srila Prabhupada, our temple is all about bringing people closer to Krishna with simple joys like chanting Hare Krishna together, sharing yummy prasadam, and celebrating festivals that light up our souls. Whether you’re a longtime devotee or just curious, step in and feel the warmth, we’re here to uplift everyone!
Our story starts back in 1966 when Srila Prabhupada, at 69 years young, sailed from India to New York with just a trunk of books and a burning desire to share Krishna’s love worldwide. He founded ISKCON in a tiny storefront, drawing in hippies and seekers with ecstatic chants and free feasts, and soon temples popped up everywhere from San Francisco to London. Here in Jaigaon, we’ve carried that same spirit since our doors opened, growing into a local hub for Sunday programs, kids’ classes, and community service like food distribution that feeds hundreds weekly. It’s all about that pure devotion passed down from Chaitanya Mahaprabhu!
Srila Prabhupada was a true gem, born in Kolkata in 1896, he poured his life into translating over 80 volumes of Vedic wisdom like the Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam, circling the globe to initiate disciples and build 108 temples in just 12 years. His vision of “simple living, high thinking” lives on in our Jaigaon center through farm projects, youth camps, and nagar sankirtans that echo through the streets.
